Golf: Six Kiwis confirmed in field for Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship at Te Arai Links

Six Kiwi golfers have been confirmed in the field for the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, taking centre stage in the world of amateur golf on home soil in October.

The tournament, played at Te Arai Links’ South Course, will see a 120-strong field compete in the first major tournament held
at Te Arai since it opened in 2022.

Current world No 19 in the amateur rankings, Zackary Swanwick, will lead the Kiwi charge. The 20-year-old plays his golf for the University of Florida Gators in the United States’ collegiate competition.

Swanwick finished in a tie for 12th at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in Melbourne in 2023, was part of the Arnold Palmer Cup-winning international team in Ireland this year, and is one of just seven players in the field ranked inside the top 50 amateurs in the world.

He will be joined by fellow Florida Gator Joshua Bai, Yuki Miya, Cooper Moore, Robbie Turnbull and Ryan Xie, the latter of which was runner-up at this year’s Australian Boys’ Amateur and a US Junior Amateur quarter-finalist in July.
