Brandel Chamblee’s ruthless analysis and hot takes make him a divisive figure among elite players, but it is clear that Scottie Scheffler is a big fan of the Golf Channel pundit.
Few talking heads in sports are as meticulous as one-time PGA Tour winner Chamblee, who, aside from his bold opinions, is renowned for his deep dives into statistics and records, and Scheffler was highly impressed after stopping by the Golf Channel studio on Sunday.
The world No. 1 was fresh off winning his second Tour Championship and FedEx Cup title at East Lake, which saw him overtake Tiger Woods atop the PGA Tour’s all-time money list. It comes as Scheffler shocked his wife with his very first action immediately after winning the Tour Championship.
When he sat down in the studio, Scheffler was taken aback by the reams of notes in front of Chamblee, and he felt compelled to point it out.
“By the way, I love people who work really hard, and so your notes like this, I truly appreciate something like that,” Scheffler said.
“This is a lot of work. Look at this. This is a ton of work. He’s got 10 pages like this.

“As a player, I appreciate stuff like that, and I feel like I’m always looking for an edge, I’m always looking for something extra that I can get out of something, and so when I see something like that, I really appreciate it.”
Scheffler started his final round three shots adrift of leader Viktor Hovland, but the four-time major champion quickly wiped out the deficit and surged ahead to cruise to a dominant victory.
It was his third win of the season, and although he has not been as prolific as in previous years and he did not win a major, he is the consensus favorite to be named the PGA Tour’s Player of the Year.
Chamblee responded to Scheffler’s praise with some superlatives of his own, admitting that Scheffler’s consistent brilliance in recent years has exhausted his reserves of talking points.
“I’ve got to tell you a funny story,” Chamblee said. “At one point this year, [Paul] McGinley. We were getting ready to do like the 57th show in a row about you, and he was like ‘What is there left to say?’
“So you’ve all left us dumbfounded it. We don’t know what there is to say except that it’s really fun to watch you.”
It comes as Scheffler made his feelings clear on his caddie after winning the $10M jackpot.
