On Monday, former New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia and his wife, Amber, hosted his 6th Annual Golf Classic in Demarest, NJ at the Alpine Country Club, supporting the couple’s PitCCh In Foundation. The inaugural event raised $600,000 for the Foundation.
The star‑studded event drew athletes, entertainers, and longtime supporters from every corner of Sabathia’s career. New York star power was on full display, with appearances by Gary Sheffield, Victor Cruz, J.R. Smith, Ja Rule, Chris Young, Ron Harper, and more.
Guests, athletes, supporters, and volunteers enjoyed the on-course action alongside a live DJ, food, refreshments, and a post-event cocktail reception.
The 2007 Cy Young Award winner introduced a new “Sabathia’s Shootout” format, featuring 48 players competing in the field. Team Anderson, led by five‑time MLB All‑Star Gary Sheffield, took home the win. Sheffield secured a trip to Baha Mar.
The event was also set to celebrate Sabathia himself, as the 2025 first‑ballot Hall of Famer is set to have his No. 52 jersey number retired by the Yankees on Sept. 26. The left-hander spent 11 seasons in the Bronx, helping the Yankees win the 2009 World Series, earning ALCS MVP honors, making three All-Star teams, recording his 3,000th career strikeout in pinstripes, and ultimately entering the Hall of Fame with a Yankees cap.
Most importantly, the event supported the PitCCh In Foundation. The PitCCh In Foundation, founded by the Sabathias in 2008, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that aims to enhance the lives of inner-city youth by boosting self-esteem and providing tools for success through educational and athletic activities. The couple started the organization looking to give back to the communities that gave them so much throughout their lives.
CC Sabathia’s 6th Annual Golf Classic raised an incredible $450,000 for the foundation and the youth it supports.
Beyond the competition, the day had a relaxed, celebratory atmosphere, giving guests a chance to connect and reflect on how far the foundation’s work has come over the past two decades.
The organization features three flagship events, being the All-Star Baseball Clinic, Youth Backpack Program, and Field Renovations. The events are designed to set up the youth with the tools they need to succeed in school and sport, based in Vallejo, California, Cleveland, Ohio, and the Bronx, New York.
The foundation’s All-Star Baseball Clinic is a free, year-round baseball camp for children. The Youth Backpack Program provides back-to-school backpacks filled with supplies to those in need. And their Field Renovations program restores baseball and athletic fields around the country for safe places.
The Golf Classic was a perfect blend of celebration, star power, community engagement, and charitable service. The event demonstrated the strong connections that CC Sabathia fostered over his career, with stars of all kinds coming to have fun and support his great cause. The 6th annual event, raising $450,00 for the foundation, is a great testament to the event’s overall impact on the communities that it supports.
