Georgia men’s golf secured its first tournament win of the season at the 2nd Swing Gopher Invitational in Minnesota. The Bulldogs finished 9-under as a team, using a tournament-best 11-under final round to capture the title.
Georgia had four golfers finish in the top 15, the most of any competing school.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs was freshman Mason Howell at 7-under, good for second in the tournament’s individual field. Howell, making just his second appearance as a Bulldog, soared in the final round, shooting a 7-under 64 highlighted by five birdies on the front nine and an eagle on No. 12, the best final round of any golfer in the field.
Shining alongside Howell was sophomore JD Culbreth, who finished right behind Howell at 3-under and tied for third on the individual leaderboard.
Also placing in the top-15 for the Bulldogs were James Earle and Sungyeop Cho, who finished at 2-under and even par, respectively.
In his first season leading the Bulldogs, head coach Mookie DeMoss had high praise for his team.
“[It was an] awesome team win,” DeMoss said. “It was great to see the guys improve each round and have the low round of the tournament [Monday]. I’m proud of the way they fought in tough conditions on a great golf course.”
Oklahoma, led by individual winner Ryder Cowan, and Rutgers rounded out the top three.
Georgia will next take the course in Fort Worth, Texas, competing at the Ben Hogan Invitational, where the Bulldogs finished 15th in 2025.
