The NSAA State golf invite kicked off from various sites across the state yesterday with several Northeast Nebraska teams and athletes having a strong day one performance.
Starting in Class D, Creighton currently sits first with a 13-stroke lead over Red Cloud, followed by Lutheran High NE (6th), Plainview (9th), Neligh-Oakdale (T-10th) and Chambers/Wheeler Central (15th).
Lutheran High’s Cole Lawless leads area individual golfers as he’s currently tied for second at two-over par 74. Bloomfield’s Keaton Gilsdorf is tied for 11th with Creighton’s Ethan Kuhlman and Calvin Wilmes, while Creighton teammate Teagan Burns sits tied for 14th.
In Class C, Norfolk Catholic sits 7th as a team followed by Battle Creek (9th), Cedar Catholic (12th) and Boone Central (15th). Norfolk Catholic’s Brayden Kosch and Battle Creek’s Brody Bessmer find themselves inside the Top 15 as Kosch is tied for 6th while Bessmer is tied for 12th.
Over in Class B, O’Neill’s Logan Brabec sits fourth individually while Columbus Lakeview’s Grayson Vogt is tied for fifth.
As for Norfolk’s two Class A golfers, Tyler Galyen sits in a tie for 61st while Elliott Hansen is 75th overall.
Action wraps up today for all four classes with play starting at 9 a.m.
