\n\tLuke Wilson<\/a> is joining Will Ferrell\u2019s untitled Netflix<\/a> golf<\/a> comedy series, the streamer revealed on Friday. Wilson will play a pro golfer who has beaten Ferrell\u2019s character for the tour championship twice.<\/p>\n \n\tWhy does (most of) that sentence sound so familiar? Oh, right: Owen Wilson currently stars in a streaming comedy series, Apple TV+ show Stick, as a former pro golfer. Owen Wilson is Luke Wilson\u2019s (three-years-older) big brother.<\/p>\n \n\tThe Netflix series stars Ferrell as a fictional golf legend. Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro and Fortune Feimster have been previously announced as co-stars \u2014 not much more is known than that.<\/p>\n \n\tPerhaps surprisingly, the 10-episode Netflix golf comedy marks Ferrell\u2019s first TV comedy series \u2014 you know, other than one very famous and long-running TV sketch-comedy series. The coming series marks the latest collaboration<\/a> between former Saturday Night Live cast mates Shannon and Ferrell.<\/p>\n \n\tFerrell, Jessica Elbaum and Alix Taylor executive produce the Netflix series for Ferrell\u2019s Gloria Sanchez Productions. Rian Johnson (the Knives Out movies), Ram Bergman and Nena Rodrigue are executive producers for T-Street.\u00a0Chris Henchy, Harper Steele, David Gordon Green and Andrew Guest also executive produce.<\/p>\n \n\tRamy Youssef\u00a0and Josh Rabinowitz, who were credited as co-creators and executive producers when Netflix\u00a0picked up the series<\/a>\u00a0in May 2024, have since departed over creative differences. Andy Campagna of Youssef\u2019s Cairo Cowboy production company also departed.<\/p>\n \n\tOwen Wilson\u2019s Stick has been renewed for a second season<\/a>; the news was likely received to just mild golf claps among the online golfing community. Though Stick has received a generally warm welcome from critics, including The Hollywood Reporter\u2019s Angie Han<\/a>, it is less popular among those who actually play the game. Stick season one featured some basic errors<\/a> that jumped off the screen to golfers. <\/p>\n \n\tThe Apple TV+ show also features a character, Zero (Lilli Kay), who seems to grate on viewers \u2014 that almost certainly rings truer with older viewers.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cZero, with their fluid pronouns and haughtily declared stances against meat and capitalism, never totally stops feeling like a Gen Z caricature,\u201d Han wrote in her review.<\/p>\n \n\tLuke Wilson has a lot more game than Owen, who learned how to play just for Stick.<\/p>\n \n\tLuke Wilson is repped by WME.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Wilsons are halfway to a regular foursome.
