The best teams in men’s college golf are at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa’s North Course for the third straight year battling it out for a national title. Oklahoma State is the defending national champion, but Auburn is the No. 1 team in the field this week. Every other team chasing is over par. The Volunteers have made the turn, so perhaps the ability to post a number or add birdies coming in can solidify their spot getting into match play.<\/p>\n Tennessee’s Lance Simpson trying to make a run<\/p>\n In his final collegiate stroke-play round, Tennessee’s Lance Simpson is on a mission. He has birdied four of his first six holes and up to 9 under overall, three behind Preston Stout. Simpson is up to T-4.<\/p>\n OSU’s Preston Stout underway<\/p>\n The individual leader has begun his final round, looking to become the first Oklahoma State individual national champion since Matthew Wolff in 2019.<\/p>\n LSU off to hot start after stellar Sunday<\/p>\n Five birdies thus far for the Tigers through six total holes, and LSU has moved inside the cut line early. The Tigers torched Omni La Costa on Sunday and need a similar performance Monday to make match play.<\/p>\n Race for the top 8<\/p>\n The only thing that matters Monday (outside of determining a national champion) is finalizing the top 8 for match play, which begins Tuesday morning. The race for the final spot (or spots) is extremely tight, with positions No. 8-15 separated by only three shots as play begins.
