(Rich Pope/Orlando Sentinel/Tribune News Service via Getty Images)

TNS

PXG launched new communication technology into the golf world at the PGA Show in Orlando, with owner Bob Parsons taking questions live from Hawaii.

In recent weeks, PXG announced the signings of long hitters Marco Penge and Aldrich Potgieter, along with the launch of a new metal woods line called Lightning and the Gen8 irons. New athletes were featured in advertisements, golf club manufacturing processes were outlined, and a live Bob Parsons took questions in hologram form at the center of the exhibit.

Not everything was golf-oriented, as Parsons described his charitable donations, his inability to sit still in school, his entrepreneurial spirit, and the pivotal moments that led to his success with GoDaddy.

“I was either going to buy a golf course or a sports team,” Parsons said. “The Browns (Cleveland) would have been available for purchase, but then we would have had to visit Cleveland once every two weeks.”

The hologram technology resembled a large, round mirror—like one found in a grand closet—that projected a near-3D version of Parsons seated in a high chair in front of a growing crowd at the PGA Show. Parsons himself had a similar system installed at his home in Hawaii, allowing him to communicate with the show in real time.

PEBBLE BEACH, CALIFORNIA – FEBRUARY 02: Darius Rucker plays his shot from the sixth tee during the first round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at Spyglass Hill Golf Course on February 02, 2023 in Pebble Beach, California. He plays more than the average number of woods, carrying the Lightning driver through an 11-wood in the bag, along with a few hybrids, Sugar Daddy wedges, and a Battle Ready putter.

When asked about new PXG athletes Penge and Potgieter, Parsons said, “I like players that play our clubs.”

PXG does not only sign professional athletes; the company also features a number of celebrities. Parsons noted that country singer Darius Rucker is one of his favorite signings, though he was less enthusiastic about the idea of singing alongside him.

Parsons continued taking questions for more than an hour and a half, pausing occasionally for water and to move around, with the holographic system capturing his movements in near-3D. One of the final questions of the event referenced one of Parsons’ famous quotes.

“It’s just something I said one day and it stuck — BOOM BABY!” Parsons said.

PXG Golf CEO Bob Parsons, on a live feed, answers questions remotely in real time from Orlando Sentinel…

[3026
5643,5644,44,5642,5645,2202,3137,3681,3136,2095
post-13107","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-pxg","tag-aldrich-potgeiter","tag-gen8","tag-golf","tag-hologram","tag-lightning","tag-marco-penge","tag-parsons-xtreme-golf","tag-pga-show","tag-pxg","tag-technology
["GET
