It\u2019s a world somewhat governed by the physical limits of what a forging press or a ceramic shell can do.<\/p>\n<p>But, as we stand in 2026, I firmly believe that these old ways are about to be replaced by the laser. While the industry has flirted with <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/reviews\/irons\/cobra-limit3d-iron-review\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/reviews\/irons\/cobra-limit3d-iron-review\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/reviews\/irons\/cobra-limit3d-iron-review\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">3D printing<\/a> for years &#8211; mostly in limited-run putters and prototypes &#8211; the release of full-scale iron lineups like Cobra\u2019s 3DP series (featuring the MB, Tour, and X models) signals that the revolution hasn&#8217;t just arrived; it&#8217;s finally found its swing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"vanilla-image-block\" style=\"padding-top:56.25%;\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ZiZHUuS4R47fZhoLSb82G9.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of half printed 3dp irons\"   loading=\"lazy\" data-new-v2-image=\"true\" data-original-mos=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ZiZHUuS4R47fZhoLSb82G9.jpg\" data-pin-media=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ZiZHUuS4R47fZhoLSb82G9.jpg\" class=\"rounded-[var(--image--border-radius,0)]\"\/>\n<\/p>\n<p>(Image credit: Cobra Golf)<\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-0e464520-fe0f-4a19-8fe1-ba3d8a703347\">I\u2019ve waxed lyrical about these irons in my reviews already, yet the truth is that we are still only on the first tee.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;eureka&#8221; moment for 3D printing &#8211; or additive manufacturing &#8211; is the internal <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/reviews\/irons\/cobra-limit3d-iron-review\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/reviews\/irons\/cobra-limit3d-iron-review\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/reviews\/irons\/cobra-limit3d-iron-review\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">lattice<\/a>. This allows for an internal structure resembling a complex honeycomb or a spiderweb. These lattice structures are incredibly structurally strong, but the key is that they are extraordinarily light, which provides club designers with their favorite thing &#8211; discretionary weight to precisely position for optimal performance.<\/p>\n<p>The result? In the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/reviews\/irons\/cobra-3dp-mb-irons-review\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/reviews\/irons\/cobra-3dp-mb-irons-review\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/reviews\/irons\/cobra-3dp-mb-irons-review\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cobra 3DP MB irons<\/a> currently being gamed by pros like <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/gear\/gear-news\/max-homa-whats-in-the-bag-179163\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/gear\/gear-news\/max-homa-whats-in-the-bag-179163\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/gear\/gear-news\/max-homa-whats-in-the-bag-179163\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Max Homa<\/a>, engineers have been able to remove enough internal mass to reposition up to 100g of tungsten into the heel and toe. Because right now, 3D printing is largely being used to make better versions of &#8220;standard&#8221; clubs. To me, the real revolution lies in mass customization.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, &#8220;custom fitting&#8221; usually means a specialized shaft and a tweak to the lie angle. In the near future, 3D printing will allow for a bespoke head designed specifically for your strike pattern.<\/p>\n<p>For example, if you consistently strike the ball toward the toe, a computer could redesign the internal lattice of your specific set to move the Center of Gravity (<a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/features\/the-game\/what-does-cg-mean-187676\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/features\/the-game\/what-does-cg-mean-187676\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.golfmonthly.com\/features\/the-game\/what-does-cg-mean-187676\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CG<\/a>) to compensate. Don&#8217;t like the &#8220;click&#8221; of a modern iron? Your local fitting center won&#8217;t just order a set; they\u2019ll send a digital file to a printer, and your unique irons will be born from a bed of metal powder.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, every revolution has its friction. The biggest barrier remains cost. A set of 3D-printed irons in 2026 still commands a premium &#8211; often upwards of $2,000 to $3,000.<\/p>\n<p>However, as printing speeds increase and the cost of metal powders drops, we will see this tech trickle down to the mid-range market. You\u2019re looking at the prototype for how every golfer will buy equipment a decade from now.
