SentryWorld’s golf course in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, will close for the 2027 season for major renovations.The renovations are in preparation for hosting the 2028 U.S. Senior Women\u2019s Open and the 2034 U.S. Senior Open.Upgrades will include a new irrigation system, redesigned green complexes, and renovated bunkers.Other SentryWorld amenities, such as the inn and restaurants, will remain open during the course closure.<\/p>\n
STEVENS POINT, Wisconsin \u2013 SentryWorld will close its golf course in 2027 for renovations ahead of two national championships.<\/p>\n
SentryWorld announced Jan. 27 it will be making \u201csignificant refinements\u201d to the golf course, including installing a state-of-the-art irrigation system, redesigning select green complexes, reconfiguring tree complexes to support championship play and accommodate a broad range of players, renovating bunkers, creating an enhanced barrier for privacy along the interstate, refining and enhancing the practice facility and adding and improving infrastructure to enhance sustainability and playability of the course.<\/p>\n
The renovation announcement follows the Jan. 13 announcement that SentryWorld would host<\/a> the 2028 U.S. Senior Women\u2019s Open and the 2034 U.S. Senior Open.<\/p>\n Pete McPartland, Sentry\u2019s chairman and CEO, said the renovations show Sentry\u2019s long-term investment in championship golf and reinforce its ability to host high-caliber events.<\/p>\n \u201cAs we think about our next 50 years, it is important to ensure that we honor our history while staying at the forefront of golf design and maintenance,\u201d McPartland said.<\/p>\n Need a news break? Check out the all new PLAY hub with puzzles, games and more!<\/a>Other SentryWorld amenities will remain open<\/p>\n As Sentry prepares to start renovations, SentryWorld\u2019s golf course will be closed for the 2027 golf season.<\/p>\n While crews work on the course, other SentryWorld amenities like The Inn at SentryWorld, PJ\u2019s, Muse, banquet facilities and the fieldhouse will remain open.<\/p>\n More about the renovation project<\/p>\n Mike James, the general manager of SentryWorld, said the course delivered exceptional course conditions for the 2019 U.S. Girls\u2019 Junior and the 2023 U.S. Senior Open tournaments, and SentryWorld is aiming to continue raising the bar as more tournaments will be hosted at the course.<\/p>\n SentryWorld will be working with golf course designer Jay Blasi, a Wisconsin native who worked with the company on its 2013 renovation project.<\/p>\n LaBar Golf will be the golf and irrigation contractor on the project.
