3<\/p>\n Scheffler’s cut-streak has been extended after narrowly making it through to the weekend’s play at the Memorial TournamentCredit: Getty<\/p>\n Frustrations brewed throughout that round, with Scheffler also picked up on camera venting<\/a> at his long-time caddie Ted Scott. <\/p>\n The two-time Masters champion<\/a> sought to close the gap on the leaders during Friday’s second round at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. <\/p>\n But Scheffler found himself going backwards to begin the round, sitting at three-over-par for his round, and four over for the tournament, following a boey on the tenth he was standing on the wrong side of the cut.<\/p>\n His streak of 75 consecutive made cuts – the longest on the PGA Tour<\/a> – was in serious jeopardy, but three birdies in four holes down the stretch, along with worsening conditions meant his run would continue.<\/p>\n READ MORE GOLF<\/p>\n \u201cI felt like I was going to shoot about 90 today,\u201d a downbeat Scheffler said following his round.<\/p>\n \u201cThat’s maybe some of the worst I’ve hit it in a couple years out there and I still managed to shoot even par around a golf course that requires you to strike the ball really well.<\/p>\n Heading into the weekend’s action, Scheffler sit at one-over par for the tournament, trailing leader J.T. Poston (-9) by 10 strokes.<\/p>\n But his pursuit of joining Tiger Woods<\/a> as the only golfers to win three straight<\/a> at the Memorial is not over just yet. <\/p>\n \u201cThis tournament was one that definitely could have got away from me, but right now I’m only nine shots back and still have a chance going into the weekend,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n \u201cWith the conditions the way they are, you never really know what’s going to happen around this golf course and just getting inside the cut line you still have a chance.\u201d<\/p>\n 3<\/p>\n Scheffler finished strong in the back nine of Round 2Credit: Getty 3<\/p>\n The wind proved to be too much for some out on the course at Muirhead VillageCredit: GettyWind causing havoc for top names<\/p>\n An argument could be made that some of Scheffler’s wayward shots over the course of the week have been due to the harsh winds that have been present at Muirfield Village. <\/p>\n “I would say in higher winds it feels a bit more consistent and you are a little easier on yourself as it\u2019s so difficult,” he said<\/a>. <\/p>\n “But at the same time today I was not hitting it very well so there was not really too much to blame outside of myself for contact.<\/p>\n “Even some of my good ones \u2013 I hit really good shots on seven and eight \u2013 and I was walking with Ted saying even some of my good ones are not good right now.<\/p>\n “I hit a good one on 13 there, got a birdie, but overall it was a tough day. … It was a difficult golf course, difficult conditions.”<\/p>\n While Scheffler and world No. 2 Rory McIlroy<\/a> made the cut, despite their struggles, some other big names were not so lucky.<\/p>\n Jordan Spieth<\/a> (+6), World no. 14 Ben Griffin<\/a> (+7) – who challenged Scheffler for the title in 2025, and Robert MacIntyre<\/a> (+7) all missed the cut, with the latter missing his third cut of the year. <\/p>\n Read More on talkSPORT<\/p>\n Leader Polsten carded a brilliant seven-under-par round of 65, four shots better than anyone else on day two which ended with just 11 players under par.<\/p>\n![\"Scheffler's](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/scottie-scheffler-united-states-plays-1086275424.jpg\")
