Another example of that is news that two former OSU golfers have qualified for the 2026 U.S. Open<\/a>. Neal Shipley and Vaughn Harber<\/a> both did enough in a marathon 36-hole qualifying format to be included in the field that will play at the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York, from June 18 through 21.<\/p>\n The two former Buckeyes<\/a> played 18 holes at Springfield Country Club and then The Lakes Golf and Country Club. Shipley carded a 3-under 67, then a 5-under 65 to finish with a best 8-under to make it through final qualifying.<\/p>\n Harber, who is still at Ohio State as a rising junior, did enough at the Lakes in Westerville, shot a 3-under in the morning, then followed it up with a 2-under 68 to force a four-man playoff that he won for the final qualifying spot. It’ll be the first major of his career.<\/p>\n So, while you tune into the U.S. Open this year, you’ll have a little scarlet and gray to root for along with the other notables.
