Rory McIlroy appeared to demand that a fan be ejected from Aronimink\u00a0Golf Club on Sunday, May 17, during the final round of the PGA Championship.<\/a><\/p>\n

The back-to-back Masters winner<\/a> hit a chip shot that fell short of the green. There were a handful of yells from the crowd, including one person chanting “U-S-A.” When his ball bounced into the bunker, McIlroy turned around and said “Shut the f— up.” He then appeared to get the attention of security and used his club to point at the spectator that offended him.<\/p>\n

McIlroy finished 4 under and in a tie for seventh place. The golfer had a slow start to the tournament due to a blister on his pinky toe.<\/a> He had a bogey-less second round that boosted him to make the cut.<\/p>\n

And when asked what held him back from winning at Aronimink, he pointed to the fact that he didn’t take advantage of the scoring holes.<\/p>\n

“I think not birdieing the two par-5s and making the bogey at the drivable par-4 13th. To me, I felt like I played the golf I needed to play the rest of the way. If I birdied the two par-5s and turned that 5 into a 3 on 13, the day looks very different,” he said. “Even though, look, Aaron is getting away from the field a little bit and looks like he’s going to win, which is great. You won’t find one person on property who’s not happy for him.<\/p>\n

“But looking back on today’s round, I would say those three holes.”<\/p>\n

McIlroy added that he’s looking forward to some downtime.<\/p>\n

“I’m going to take a couple weeks off, and then Memorial will be my next one,” he said.<\/p>\n

He used another four-letter word when addressing the media<\/a> about his poor performance in the first round.<\/p>\n
