{"id":1968,"date":"2026-05-24T23:45:22","date_gmt":"2026-05-24T23:45:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/1968\/"},"modified":"2026-05-24T23:45:22","modified_gmt":"2026-05-24T23:45:22","slug":"red-hot-chris-gotterup-commits-to-travelers-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/1968\/","title":{"rendered":"Red-hot Chris Gotterup commits to Travelers Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the hottest golfers on the PGA Tour has agreed to play at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courant.com\/tag\/travelers-championship\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Travelers Championship<\/a> this summer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pgatour.com\/player\/59095\/chris-gotterup\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Gotterup<\/a>, who\u2019s already won at the Sony Open in January and the WM Phoenix Open in February, will be in Cromwell this June.<\/p>\n<p>Gotterup shot 16-under in both of his wins earlier this season, taking the Sony Open title by two shots over Ryan Gerard, and winning in a playoff in Phoenix over Hideki Matsuyama.<\/p>\n<p>His run on tour began last year with a terrific couple of weeks in the U.K., winning the Scottish Open on July 13 to earn a spot in the British Open a few days later. He ended up finishing third there, five shots back of champion Scottie Scheffler.<\/p>\n<p>Gotterup\u2019s hot streak culminated in him finishing No. 6 in last year\u2019s FedEx Cup rankings. The 26-year-old, who played golf at Rutgers, is currently ranked No. 10 in the world.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.courant.com\/2026\/02\/25\/a-year-after-final-hole-heartbreak-tommy-fleetwood-returning-to-travelers-championship\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">A year after final-hole heartbreak, Tommy Fleetwood returning to Travelers Championship<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cChris continues to play at a very high level and we\u2019re really excited to have him in our field,\u201d Travelers Executive Vice President Andy Bessette said. \u201cWe gave Chris an exemption a few years ago, which allowed us to get to know him and his family. Chris is a world-class player, but he\u2019s also a terrific young man.
