Golf Notes is coming to you from Studio 6, San Luis Obispo. My granddaughter, Alexa Miller, graduated from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo on Saturday, June 13. I was driven to the graduation by Alexa\u2019s parents, Danielle and Oscar. The ceremony began at 8:30 a.m. The previous evening, my grandson, Kyden Miller, graduated from Mendocino High School. His graduation ended around 6:30 p.m., and we immediately jumped into Danielle\u2019s car and set out for Cal Poly. After a four-hour nap in a motel around the San Francisco airport, we continued the journey in plenty of time to find seating in the outdoor venue, the Cal Poly soccer field. Alexa\u2019s graduating class had more than 2,000 graduates. Kyden\u2019s graduating class had a few more than 30. Congratulations to my grandkids and to all their graduating classmates. Graduation is a special and memorable event and the beginning of a new life.<\/p>\n
The results of the two-person Best Ball Tournament, sponsored by the Little River Men and Women\u2019s Club and played on Sunday, June 14, have just been sent to me by Dewey Turner. The format was best ball scored between the two-person teammates. There were three flights based on handicaps, with seven two-person teams in the first and second flights and six two-person teams in the third flight. Placing first in the first flight was the team of Marshall Carr and David Sroaf, shooting a best-ball 61, 10 strokes under par. Second place was taken by the team of Terry Stratton and Tim McLaughlin, scoring a team 64, 7 under par. Placing first in the second flight was the husband-and-wife team of Rita and Ernest Hanover, scoring a 64, 7 under par. Coming in second was the team of Dan Macy and Aisea Takave, scoring a team 66, 5 under par. Taking first place in the third flight was the husband-and-wife team of Diane and Ray Maxey, with a nice 62, 9 under par. Something about these husband-and-wife teams, they are working and winning. Second-place third-flight winners were the team of David Coddington and Lindy Peters, scoring a team 63, 8 under par. Good golfing to all of you who placed, and the rest of the scores were not that far behind.<\/p>\n
