\n Rising junior was one of just five amateurs to make the cut in 156-player field this week at Shinnecock\n <\/p>\n
TUCKAHOE, N.Y. \u2013 Rising junior Marek Fleming finished T-56th at 10-over at the 2026 U.S. Open on Sunday. He fired scores of 72-72-74-72 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club over the course of four days this week.<\/p>\n
Head coach Rob Bradley was on the bag as his caddie for the 72-hole Major Championship walk.<\/p>\n
\u201cMarek and I had a blast this week,\u201d said Bradley. \u201cHe played at a really high level and hit so many great shots. I\u2019m sure this will give him a lot of confidence moving forward. He definitely proved that he can compete with the best players in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fleming made nine birdies total in 72 holes at Shinnecock\u00a0 to go alongside 45 pars.<\/p>\n
The Tomball, Texas native was one of just five amateurs to make the cut and one of just three college amateurs (11 total in the field) inside the 4-over cutline alongside Oklahoma\u2019s Ryder Cowan and Oklahoma State\u2019s Eric Lee. There was 20 total amateurs in the field this week at Shinnecock.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a really great experience playing in my first major,\u201d said Fleming. \u201c I am thankful for my family supporting me and for having coach Bradley on the bag. We did a really good job of limiting the mistakes \u2013 only having one double bogey for the week around a place like Shinnecock is very solid. It gives me a lot of confidence knowing my game can compete at the biggest tournaments in golf. Looking forward to keeping the momentum rolling.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fleming is the first Gamecock to place at the U.S. Open since three-time All-American Matt Nesmith finished T-37th at the 2022 U.S. Open playing as a professional at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass.<\/p>\n
