Wes Moore said that while the event is over, its impact is going to stretch far beyond the golf course.”It’s great, because we see how this tournament alone is going to drive over $60 million of economic activity for the state. It’s going to bring over 100,000 new visitors to Baltimore and to the state of Maryland. But, more importantly than that, it continues to soldify Maryland as a sports hub, as a sports mecca,” Moore said.Terry Hasseltine, the executive director of the Maryland Sports Commission, said the event is a hole in one for the state when it comes to revenue, as golf enthusiasts come to the region to dine in, explore the area and book hotels.”We’re putting heads in pads, food in bellies, gas in cars… throughout the entire five days. That’s the accumulation of revenues coming into the state of Maryland from a lot of people who aren’t from Maryland,” Hasseltine said. “But there’s also a good accumulation of people from Maryland.
