These days, any list of the best events on the PGA Tour<\/a> seems to include the annual event in Cromwell, and on Tuesday, Newsweek announced that the Travelers won the Fan\u2019s Choice Award for best PGA Tour event<\/a> of 2025.<\/p>\n

The Travelers beat out the most famous events in golf, finishing first in fan voting after being nominated by a committee of Newsweek panelists and contributors.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is wonderful recognition for the tournament, which has established itself as one of the best weeks in golf,\u201d Andy Bessette, Travelers Executive Vice President said in a release. \u201cThe support we receive from our fans is immeasurable, whether they volunteer, watch at home, engage with our online content or fill the amphitheater on 18 \u2013 our fans are an integral part in making our event stand out. We appreciate their support in this contest and helping the tournament generate millions of dollars for hundreds of local charities.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Travelers Championship finished ahead of The Masters, which came in second, the U.S. Open, which placed sixth, and the Ryder Cup in eighth. The Texas Children\u2019s Houston Open was third, followed by the RBC Heritage on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The Newsweek contest was announced in June, with fans able to vote once per day through Aug. 20.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re fortunate to have an amazing fan base that has embraced this tournament and shown their enthusiastic support year after year,\u201d said Nathan Grube, Travelers Championship Tournament Director. \u201cIt\u2019s nice to know that so many fans value the Travelers Championship and consider it to be one of the top events in the game. We look forward to delivering another world-class tournament next year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Travelers was once again a Signature Event on the PGA Tour, with a $20 million purse and a field that featured each of the top 15 players and 45 of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings. New England native Keegan Bradley birdied the final hole to win by one stroke and become the eighth player in tournament history to win the event more than once. Bradley also won in 2023. This year\u2019s Travelers Championship generated more than $4 million for 215 charities, with both numbers setting tournament records.<\/p>\n

Gov. Ned Lamont congratulated the Travelers Championship in a video posted to his social media accounts.<\/p>\n

\u201cLadies and gentlemen, the winner of the Newsweek Fans\u2019 Choice Award for the Best PGA Tour Event in America is \u2026 no, it\u2019s not the Masters. No, it\u2019s not the AT&T Pebble Beach. It is \u2026 the Travelers Championship, right here in Connecticut,\u201d Lamont said. \u201cCongratulations, Travelers, for putting together a show voted for by the fans across the country, a lot coming from Connecticut. I love going to that tournament, and obviously so do the fans. I want to thank you for what it also means to the community, the amount of money you raise for charity. And I\u2019m really glad the players and their wives love the tournament, as well. You ought to be there next year.
