Two Logan residents, Hobie Shaw and Taylor Junge, recently traveled to Ellicottville, New York to compete in a park golf tournament. Big Foot Park Golf hosted the first stop on the IPGAA Travelers Tour. Golfers competed for the Sasquatch Crown with local Bigfoot player Elliot Wilbur, reaping the award. Wilbur shot an incredible 107 for two rounds. It was a worthwhile trip for the Logan golfers as Shaw placed second with a score of 111 and Junge placed third with a score of 116.<\/p>\n
The next stop on the tour will be today, June 27 at Wormburner Park Golf in Logan, Ohio which is Shaw and Junge\u2019s home course. Wormburner is one of several courses sanctioned by the International Park Golf Association of America. Points earned in sanctioned tournaments go toward national player rankings. IPGAA is the only Park Golf Organization in North America that is officially recognized and sanctioned by the Japan Park Golf Association (NPGA) and International Park Golf Federation (IPGF).<\/p>\n
Park Golf is a unique game of golf played with one club and one ball, and has a large cup. Think mini golf on steroids or as some describe it; the pickleball of golf.<\/p>\n
Park Golf, as its name implies, is a sport created to allow people of all ages to enjoy golf in a park-like, relaxed setting. Although mainly recreational, there is a growing competitive sector as well. It provides players with an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while improving their health and fitness. Park Golf is for everyone. It is easy to play yet still provides a challenge and requires skill to master.<\/p>\n
