Matt Fitzpatrick<\/a> admits it would be a \u201cweird feeling\u201d if he and sibling Alex are in contention for this week\u2019s PGA Championship<\/a> in the \u2018City of Brotherly Love\u2019.<\/p>\n

The Sheffield siblings are two of golf\u2019s most in-form players, with Matt, 31, a three-time winner on the PGA Tour<\/a> this season \u2013 including alongside Alex at the Zurich Classic <\/a>\u2013 as well as finishing runner-up at the Players Championship.<\/p>\n

That pairs win in New Orleans secured Alex a two-year tour card and the 27-year-old backed it up by taking a lead into the final round of last week\u2019s Truist Championship before finishing fourth.<\/a><\/p>\n

The pair arrive at Aronimink Golf Club in south west Philadelphia gunning for major success and Matt is ready for the moment they come up against each other.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have not really been in contention yet together but I would imagine it\u2019s going to be a weird feeling when that time does come,\u201d Matt Fitzpatrick said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been impressed more than anything. Super proud of him for how he\u2019s been playing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m probably known as Alex\u2019s brother now, as opposed to him being Matt\u2019s brother!<\/p>\n

\u201cI love talking about my brother. It\u2019s an amazing position to be in to have that privilege to talk about how well he\u2019s doing. I\u2019d so much rather have these conversations than the opposite of, you know, why is he not playing well and whatnot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alex was 203rd in the world rankings at the end of 2025 but has risen to 83rd ahead of the US PGA Championship.<\/p>\n

Matt, meanwhile has long since been an established figure at the top of the game, winning the 2022 US Open and appearing in four Ryder Cups.<\/p>\n

Matt says the brothers are very different on and off the course, adding: \u201cHe is messy, I would say. We shared a bathroom last week, actually, in the house that we shared, and it was a little bit messier than my side of the bathroom!<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he probably wanted to create his own path. He\u2019s not really numbers orientated, I like to know the numbers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI personally just think that\u2019s kind of good practice, not being over analytical. I think Alex is kind of definitely more go with the flow.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is doing a good job of where he is at the minute.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matt is fourth in the world rankings and third in the FedEx Cup standings after the best start to a season of his career.<\/p>\n

He beat Scottie Scheffler in a play-off to win the RBC Heritage<\/a> in April and believes his game is in the best place it has ever been.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think 2022 was my kind of golden period that I sort of said for two, three years afterwards that this was always the best period that I had ever played.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut the start of this year has definitely eclipsed that because of obviously, a, the results, but b, the underlying numbers themselves have definitely been better.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m trying to cherish it (success) as much as possible. It\u2019s all happening very quickly.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think in terms of the way the season is, it can be such a blur at times, and I think it is trying to take a step back and kind of remember those moments, even on a week like this.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s about thinking those moments, those great times that you\u2019ve had, making sure you remind yourself of those good times.\u201d<\/p>\n
