The Travelers Championship wasn’t supposed to need a fifth day. But on Sunday, Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland traded the lead all afternoon, survived a rain delay, and ran out of daylight still tied at 21-under par.<\/p>\n
Now they’re back at it, settling things in sudden death at 9 a.m. ET on the par-4 18th at TPC River Highlands, repeating the hole until someone breaks. He made four par saves from inside 10 feet over the back nine and didn’t three-putt once across 72 holes.<\/p>\n “It’s more fun when you’re making the ones to win, but to keep yourself in it is also nice,” Scheffler said. “I live another day.”<\/p>\n Hovland, who held the outright lead through three rounds, fell two shots behind early in the final round before a weather delay reset the day. He birdied three straight holes coming out of the break to draw level.<\/p>\n “I played a lot of great golf this week, so I’m feeling pretty good,” Hovland said.<\/p>\n The Norwegian is a perfect 1-0 in career PGA Tour playoffs, while Scheffler is 2-2, including a 2024 win at this same course<\/a> in extra holes against Tom Kim.<\/p>\n The bigger picture<\/p>\n Beyond Monday’s playoff, both golfers carry momentum into next month’s Open Championship. Scheffler sits as the favorite to win the year’s final major at 14% on Kalshi<\/a>, well clear of the field.<\/p>\n Hovland’s price has crept up alongside his Travelers form, with traders now putting him at 4.2% to win at Royal Birkdale.<\/p>\n A Monday win at TPC River Highlands wouldn’t just settle the Travelers.
