Arthur MacArthur.<\/p>\nA new foundation created to support junior golf initiatives at Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club has been launched in tribute to its former captain.<\/p>\n
The Arthur MacArthur Foundation is being established in memory of respected Black Isle businessman Arthur MacArthur.<\/p>\n

The Foundation honours the memory of the former proprietor of Burnside Garage, Avoch, who passed away last year at the age of 78.<\/p>\n
Subject to the availability of funds, it aims to support junior golf initiatives at Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club, including coaching, development opportunities and other initiatives that encourage young people to take up and remain involved in the game.<\/p>\n
The initiative has been developed with the full support of Arthur\u2019s family, who have welcomed the Foundation being established in his memory.<\/p>\n
Arthur was a former captain of Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club, following in the footsteps of his father, who also served as captain.<\/p>\n
He was a long-standing sponsor of Avoch Amateur Football Club and was widely respected throughout the Black Isle for his generosity, community spirit, and support of local sport.<\/p>\n
Tournament organiser and long-time friend Sandy Grant said he wanted to create a foundation which would carry on Arthur\u2019s memory.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cArthur was a close friend of mine and many others. After he passed away, I wanted to create a legacy that reflected the kind of man he was.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can think of no better way of honouring Arthur\u2019s memory than by encouraging young people to take up golf and, where possible, helping them remain in the game throughout their teenage years.\u201d<\/p>\n
