3<\/p>\n McIlroy has taken his Green Jacket public and attended Wimbledon wearing itCredit: Getty<\/p>\n It means that world-famous piece of clothing has been his for two years now<\/a>, with it still taking up a space in his wardrobe.<\/p>\n And with Wimbledon<\/a> underway, McIlroy<\/a> has decided to give the jacket a run-out, wearing it as he visited SW19.<\/p>\n He was pictured with his wife Erica inside the grounds at the Grand Slam tennis tournament as they arrived to watch the action.<\/p>\n But by donning his green jacket, he ran the risk of breaking the very strict rules set by Augusta National for each winner<\/a>.<\/p>\n READ MORE ON GOLF<\/p>\n McIlroy would have had to ask for permission to wear the jacket in a public space and have pictures taken of him in it. <\/p>\n The six-time major winner will have been permitted to do so on Wednesday, but that still didn’t mean he was safe at Wimbledon. <\/p>\n Any photographs taken of a Masters winner in the green jacket that include alcohol in any way are strictly prohibited. <\/p>\n Therefore, he had to avoid being pictured with a glass of champagne or a Pimms<\/a> whilst he was in attendance at SW19.<\/p>\n Images of him on arrival and in the Royal Box on Centre Court did not include any alcohol, so he avoided breaking the rule on those occasions.<\/p>\n McIlroy was wearing a suit shirt and tie alongside some smart trousers to also stick within Augusta guidelines, as Masters winners are not permitted to wear the Green Jacket in public without a shirt and tie, as jeans, shorts, or t-shirts are prohibited. <\/p>\n 3<\/p>\n McIlroy would have had to ask permission to wear the jacket in a public placeCredit: PAMcIlroy ‘reluctant’ to wear Green Jacket<\/p>\n The 37-year-old golf superstar will be more than aware of the strict rules around wearing his Green Jacket in public. <\/p>\n When he won his first Masters last year<\/a>, McIlroy admitted that he was wary of having his jacket on so he doesn’t anger Augusta.<\/p>\n “I’m sort of reluctant to wear it,” he said in 2025. “It’s not as if I wear it a lot.
