Lismore is set to welcome some of Australia\u2019s emerging professional golfers later this month, with the Lismore Workers Golf Club\u00a0once again selected to host a qualifying event for the prestigious 2026 Ford NSW Open Championship.<\/p>\n

The Ford NSW Open Regional Qualifying Event\u00a0will be held from Sunday, July 26 to Tuesday, July 28, bringing professional golfers, officials and visitors to the Northern Rivers for three days of competition.<\/p>\n

The tournament will begin with a Pro-Am on Sunday before two rounds of championship qualifying on Monday and Tuesday, with players competing for a place in one of New South Wales\u2019 premier professional golf events.<\/p>\n

The Lismore qualifier forms part of the statewide Ford NSW Open Regional Qualifying Series, which provides golfers with the opportunity to earn a coveted place in the 2026 Ford NSW Open Championship, to be played at The Vintage Golf Club\u00a0in the Hunter Valley from November 12 to 15.<\/p>\n

Each qualifying tournament offers a $50,000 prize pool, while the top three non-exempt finishers secure direct entry into the NSW Open later this year.<\/p>\n

Lismore City Mayor Steve Krieg said the return of the event reinforced the city\u2019s growing reputation as a destination for major regional sporting competitions.<\/p>\n

He said attracting high-profile sporting events generated important economic benefits for the region by encouraging visitors to stay in local accommodation, dine at local businesses and experience everything the Northern Rivers has to offer.<\/p>\n

Mayor Krieg also praised the efforts of the Lismore Workers Golf Club, acknowledging the work of staff and volunteers who continue to prepare the course to a professional standard capable of hosting elite competition.<\/p>\n

Golf NSW Manager of Tournaments Nicole Martin said Lismore had become an important stop on the Regional Qualifying Series.<\/p>\n

She described Lismore Workers Golf Club as an outstanding venue and said the Northern Rivers community had consistently provided strong support for the event.<\/p>\n

Ms Martin said the regional qualifying tournaments created genuine opportunities for golfers to earn a place in the NSW Open while also delivering economic benefits and increased tourism to host communities.<\/p>\n

Director and Head Professional at Lismore Workers Golf Club, Luke Ryan, said the club was proud to once again welcome the tournament and showcase the quality of golf available in the region.<\/p>\n

He credited recently appointed Greenkeeping Superintendent Dave Hobday with helping establish a positive culture focused on presenting the course at its best for competitors.<\/p>\n

Mr Ryan also highlighted the club\u2019s commitment to developing junior golf, saying the tournament would provide young local players with the opportunity to watch professional golfers compete at close range and inspire the next generation of talent.<\/p>\n

The 2026 Ford NSW Open Regional Qualifying Series also includes events at Teven, Coffs Harbour, South West Rocks, Catalina\u00a0and Queanbeyan, with the best-performing golfers progressing to the championship in the Hunter Valley.<\/p>\n

Lismore City Council is supporting the event alongside Golf NSW and the NSW Government through Destination NSW, with additional event information expected to be released throughout July.<\/p>\n
