(WIBW) &#8211; A local family is helping their loved one live on by letting people of all abilities experience his love of golf.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The family of Brad \u201cB.J.\u201d Foster presented a $5500 check to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.capper.org\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.capper.org\/\">Capper Foundation <\/a>during a Thursday visit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Foster passed away in April at the age of 57. He was an avid golfer, so his family and friends wanted to honor his memory with a golf tournament.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">They weren\u2019t sure where to give the money, until they saw WIBW-TV\u2019s coverage of Capper\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wibw.com\/2025\/08\/08\/special-golf-campers-show-off-their-skills-with-special-guest\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wibw.com\/2025\/08\/08\/special-golf-campers-show-off-their-skills-with-special-guest\/\">\u201cI Got This\u201d golf camp<\/a>. The week-long camp provided a special experience for people with intellectual disabilities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">B.J.\u2019s mother, Linda Foster, realized it was the perfect cause to honor him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cHe just loved to be out there. That was his time. We couldn\u2019t have found anything better to give to in his memory,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">His sister, Lisa Henderson, agreed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt felt like it was just a great way to honor him. He would have loved this, that something connected to him helped other people learn to play golf,\u201d Lisa said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The tournament was held in October at Cyprus Ridge Golf Course. The course also has a memorial bench for B.J. on the eighth hole.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Cyprus Ridge Golf Professional Penny Hickman was part of both the memorial tournament and the I Got This camp, when it was help in August at Topeka Country Club. She said she\u2019s excited to see this source of financial support for the camp to return.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cNot only are (participants) learning the sport but there\u2019s a lot of mobility involved with golf. It helps keep you active. It helps. Keep you focused. It was fun watching people gain,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Capper is planning its next I Got This golf camp for October 2026. The camp is a program of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.igotthis.foundation\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.igotthis.foundation\/\">I Got This Foundation<\/a>, started by Amy Bockerstette, who was a collegiate golfer and has Down syndrome.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2025 WIBW.
