(WFSB) &#8211; A group of Norwegian fans who traveled to the United States for the World Cup spent Sunday at the Travelers Championship cheering on Viktor Hovland, who is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfsb.com\/2026\/06\/28\/travelers-championship-final-round-what-fans-need-know-before-heading-out-sunday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wfsb.com\/2026\/06\/28\/travelers-championship-final-round-what-fans-need-know-before-heading-out-sunday\/\">tied for the lead and headed to a Monday playoff<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Friends Marcus, Matt, Ariel and Eric traveled to Boston for the World Cup, took a trip to Atlantic City, and then made their way to Connecticut for their first visit to the state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe don\u2019t know so much about Connecticut but this is fantastic,\u201d said Eric, Norwegian fan.<\/p>\n<p>Fans follow Hovland from first tee to 18th hole<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The group could be heard cheering from the first tee to the 18th hole, shouting support for Hovland throughout the round.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe\u2019ve been here for the World Cup and we see Hovland just leading off in the leaderboard Sunday. Absolutely electric, incredible!\u201d one fan said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Hovland, who finished Sunday tied for the lead at -21, said the crowd support was not something he typically receives on the course.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI think the World Cup obviously brings some extra ones and the jerseys. It was awesome,\u201d Hovland said.<\/p>\n<p>Playoff set for Monday<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Hovland did not clinch outright on the final hole, setting up a Monday playoff. The Norwegian fans said they plan to attend before heading to Texas for their next World Cup match.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cMostly the soccer but this second.
