Lewis-Clark Cubs 16, West Kootenay Aces 3 <\/p>\n
SPOKANE VALLEY \u2014 The Lewis-Clark Cubs American Legion baseball team won four of its five games last weekend in the Spokane Wood Bat Tournament, earning a consolation title with a mercy rule-shortened blitz over the West Kootenay Aces on Sunday at West Valley High School.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur guys played hard every game,\u201d Cubs coach Bill Stevenson said. \u201cThey were clearly the better team (each game), in my mind.\u201d<\/p>\n
Against Kootenay, Joha Hultman hit for a double and four RBI while Slater Kuther and Kyle Cox each tallied two hits for the Cubs (18-11-1). Grady Helm picked up the pitching win after going 3 2\/3 innings with three strikeouts.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur teams battle with the weather; they don\u2019t complain; they get compliments from people in the stands about how well they hustle,\u201d Stevenson said. \u201cI\u2019m just real happy that these guys compete and they don\u2019t give up.\u201d<\/p>\n

COLFAX \u2014 The host Patriots started things off with a blistering 17-run inning en route to an area A league doubleheader sweep over the Wild.<\/p>\n
In Game 1, Silas Nollmeyer batted 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI while crossing home plate four times himself to head up the high-scoring offensive effort for the Patriots (11-15), while Mason Cote allowed only one hit as he pitched all four innings. Bowman drove in four runs on his three hits, and Cooper Thomas had three hits with two RBI and three runs scored.<\/p>\n
In the nightcap, Wizi Tolman fired off four strikeouts in three innings pitched while conceding only one hit for Palouse. The Patriots\u2019 Kason Shore and Keegan Caessens each had two hits including an extra-base delivery \u2014 Shore a triple, Caessens a double.<\/p>\n
