Louisville, Ky. (WDRB) \u2014 Few players, if any, have the social media and fan following of six-time PGA Tour winner Max Homa. He has over 675,000 followers on X alone.<\/p>\n
Formerly the number five golfer in the world, it\u2019s been an up-and-down season for him. Homa finished ninth at the Masters, but didn\u2019t see the weekend at the PGA Championship and missed a putt in a playoff to not qualify for the U.S. Open.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s now back to feeling comfortable following a second-place finish at the John Deere Classic and is ready to attack the ISCO Championship this week.<\/p>\n
“Having a good attitude, playing the game, using what I got and not what I don’t have, but as always, success is a win,” Homa said. “It’s still Wednesday, so my Monday through Wednesday, I still try to win those days. (My team and I) have been prepping really well. Once Thursday comes around, it’s a whole new game.”<\/p>\n
Homa doesn\u2019t have to worry about qualifying for a major championship for the rest of this season.<\/p>\n
He earned a spot in next week’s Open Championship with his finish at the John Deere Classic.<\/p>\n
“It wasn’t the end of the world not playing in the U.S. Open,” Homa said. “It’s not like at the beginning of the year I was saying that’s one on my bucket list. I’ve never even played well at a U.S. Open, so it was more of a shame that we spent all that energy. Looking back, it could’ve been a good thing. I could’ve gone to Shinnecock Hills and played poorly.”<\/p>\n
If, by Sunday, Homa sees his name at the top of the leaderboard, the next-highest finisher who isn\u2019t slated for the field at Royal Birkdale will hop on a plane to England for the final major championship of the year.<\/p>\n
