England<\/a> captain Harry Kane<\/a> has described playing golf with Donald Trump <\/a>as a “pretty surreal experience”. <\/p>\n

The encounter, which Trump had previously revealed, took place 18 months ago in Florida<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Trump, speaking to reporters earlier in the week, had praised the footballer’s abilities on the golf course. <\/a><\/p>\n

“I think Kane is a great player. I played golf with him and I like him a lot. He\u2019s a good golfer too. He\u2019s really great,” Trump stated. <\/p>\n

Kane, reflecting on the game, admitted he was envious of Trump\u2019s golf game, particularly given his age of 80.<\/p>\n

\u201cI played alright to be honest, but 18 months ago he invited me to play when I was down in Palm Beach,\u201d the 32-year-old said ahead of England<\/a>\u2019s World Cup quarter-final with Norway on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo when the President invites you somewhere, it was a pretty surreal experience just to meet him and obviously play golf with him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis golf is pretty good, to be honest with you. I hope I can play golf as good as him when I\u2019m his age, that\u2019s for sure. A unique experience, but I was just grateful that he invited me to play.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump had complimented the Bayern Munich forward on his Truth Social platform following England’s 3-2<\/a> last-16 victory over Mexico, writing: “Harry Kane of England is a GREAT player!!!”<\/p>\n

It comes as Harry Kane said England are hoping to do Sir David Beckham proud after the former captain spoke to the players on the eve of their World Cup quarter-final with Norway.<\/p>\n

Beckham visited Thomas Tuchel\u2019s men as they stepped up preparations for the crunch clash with Erling Haaland and Co in Miami on Saturday.<\/p>\n

They trained on Friday afternoon at the facilities of Inter Miami \u2013 the Major League Soccer side co-owned by Beckham.<\/p>\n

The 51-year-old star was in attendance for the session in Fort Lauderdale, alongside sons Romeo and Cruz, and spoke to players in the gym before they took to the field, having been at a number of their World Cup matches this summer.<\/p>\n

Kane revealed Beckham, who won 115 caps for his country, wished the team luck as they try to reach just a third World Cup semi-final in 60 years.<\/p>\n

The Bayern Munich striker said: \u201cHe just wished us luck. After most games, he messages me, and we stay in touch.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a big England fan. We all know how much it meant for him to represent England and be captain and play the way he did every time he wore the shirt, so he was there to support us.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, we were using his home, the home that he built, so we appreciate him doing that for us.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was good to catch up with him, and for some of the other lads to have a chat with him. He\u2019s an England legend.<\/p>\n
