{"id":3652,"date":"2026-05-25T20:44:16","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T20:44:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/3652\/"},"modified":"2026-05-25T20:44:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-25T20:44:16","slug":"rbc-heritage-day-2-begins-with-pro-am-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/3652\/","title":{"rendered":"RBC Heritage Day 2 begins with Pro-Am event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) &#8211; The <a href=\"https:\/\/rbcheritage.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/rbcheritage.com\/\">RBC Heritage<\/a> golf tournament continues Wednesday with round 1 of the Pro-Am event teeing off at 7 a.m. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Pro-Am is considered the \u201cfun\u201d day before the main competition kicks off Thursday. Amateur players will team up with the professionals to play the course here at Harbor Town Golf Links.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Tuesday, the RBC Heritage began with the opening ceremony and practice rounds. Last year\u2019s champion, Justin Thomas hit the ceremonial tee shot before a parade strolled through the area. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Excitement has been building for months in anticipation of this week\u2019s golf competition on Hilton Head Island.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The RBC Heritage is South Carolina\u2019s only event on the PGA Tour. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Fans not only get to see top ranked golfers like Scottie Scheffler play to win the signature tartan jacket and 20-million-dollar purse, but they\u2019ll also get to enjoy the scenery and festive atmosphere at Harbor Town. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Attendees like Deanna Frank said those are just a few reason that keep her coming back to the event. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s an amazing place. I\u2019ve golfed this course. It\u2019s beautiful. The fields always great. The views are spectacular,\u201d said Frank.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Volunteerism is a large part of what makes this event successful with over 1,7000 volunteers planned to work throughout the tournament. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The annual tournament is expected to generate close to $135 million for the local economy and draw approximately 120,000 spectators to the area. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe know that tourism is our economic driver, and we\u2019ve got a lot of people that come in. They started coming a little bit earlier this year because Easter was earlier, so we\u2019ve seen a big influx,\u201d said Alan Perry, Mayor of Hilton Head Island. \u201cBut, it\u2019s exciting, right. We know that we\u2019re going to have a great year, and Hilton Head is beautiful. The town has done an amazing job at cleaning everything up, so it\u2019s good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Since 1987, $61.8 million have been distributed to charities in South Carolina and Georgia. Over $4 million were distributed to organizations, college scholarships and more last year alone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The 2026 RBC Heritage runs through Sunday, April 19.
