The last couple of weekends on the PGA Tour<\/a> have been nothing short of spectacular, with two fantastic finishes that went down to the wire (or in last weekend<\/a>‘s case, past the wire). But with THE PLAYERS Championship<\/a>, the PGA Tour’s flagship event, coming to NBC and Peacock<\/a> this weekend, there’s plenty more action in store.\u00a0<\/p>\n

From Thursday through Sunday, the world’s best golfers, including World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler<\/a> and World No. 2, last year’s PLAYERS champ Rory McIlroy<\/a>, will be converging on\u00a0one of the most prestigious courses the PGA Tour has to offer,\u00a0the Pete Dye-designed Stadium Course at Tournament Players Club Sawgrass (TPC Sawgrass for short<\/a>) in the Jacksonville, Florida area of Ponte Vedra Beach, where the tourney has been held since 1982.<\/p>\n

If either Scheffler or McIlroy can conquer the course, including its iconic 17th hole island green, they’ll join the legendary Jack Nicklaus as the only three-time winners of THE PLAYERS Championship. How to watch THE PLAYERS Championship PGA Tour golf tournament this weekend?<\/p>\n

NBC Sports\u2019 coverage of THE PLAYERS Championship on\u00a0NBC\u00a0and\u00a0Peacock<\/a>, live from the from TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, begins with Round 3 coverage at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 14, and Final Round coverage at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 15. Golf Channel has coverage of the rest of the tourney, which kicks off on Thursday, March 12.<\/p>\n

What to know about THE PLAYERS Championship this weekend on NBC & Peacock<\/p>\n

The 2026 PLAYERS Championship is the 52nd edition of the prestigious event, which features the\u00a0highest single-event purse on the PGA Tour at $25 million. Not only does the winner get the bulk of that, but also 750 FedExCup points, a three-year invitation to The Masters, and three-year exemptions for the other Majors: the U.S. Open, the Open Championship (aka the British Open) and the PGA Championship.<\/p>\n

Last year’s tourney saw McIlroy defeating\u00a0J.J. Spaun (who would later go on to win the U.S. Open) in a three-hole Monday playoff, the first three-hole playoff in a decade. Having won THE PLAYERS in 2019, McIlroy became one of just eight golfers to win it multiple times, including Scheffler, who won it back to back in 2023 and 2024, the first and only time a golfer successfully defended his title in PLAYERS Championship history.

Scheffler and McIlroy lead a field of 123 top golfers, including 46 of the World Top 50. Other big names participating include Tommy Fleetwood (No. 3), Collin Morikawa (No. 4), Justin Rose (No. 5), Russell Henley (No. 6), Chris Gotterup (No. 7), Robert MacIntyre (No. 8), Sepp Straka (No. 9), and Xander Schauffele (No. 10). And don’t count out World No. 19 Akshay Bhatia, who miraculously won the Arnold Palmer Invitational last weekend<\/a> in a sudden-death playoff.<\/p>\n
