The 16-year-old fired a 1-over-par 74 on Wednesday to climb into a tie for the Women\u2019s Amateur lead alongside Regina\u2019s Alex Schmidt.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"490\" data-end=\"733\">Schmidt, who led after the opening round, carded a 5-over 78 in round two but remains tied atop the leaderboard entering Thursday\u2019s final round. Defending champion Chloe Wills of Kyle is still within striking distance, sitting five shots back.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"735\" data-end=\"905\">While the Women\u2019s Amateur title is up for grabs, Schmidt has all but wrapped up the Women\u2019s Mid-Amateur Championship, taking a commanding 21-shot lead into the final day.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"907\" data-end=\"1156\">On the men\u2019s side, Regina\u2019s Joergen Viken made the biggest move of the tournament. After opening with an even-par round, Viken posted a tournament-best 3-under 69 on Wednesday to jump into a three-way tie for first in the Men\u2019s Amateur Championship.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1158\" data-end=\"1368\">Viken shares the lead with Mex Regier and first-round leader Ethan Hunter. Regier followed his opening-round 70 with a 2-under performance, while Hunter stayed atop the leaderboard despite shooting a 1-over 73.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1370\" data-end=\"1558\">Viken also leads the Men\u2019s Mid-Amateur Championship. Edmonton\u2019s Andrew Funk sits second at 2-under, Carson Harcourt is third at 1-under, and Jesse Gibson remains in contention at even par.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1560\" data-end=\"1723\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The Women\u2019s Amateur and both Mid-Amateur championships conclude Thursday, while the Men\u2019s Amateur Championship will continue into Friday following the 54-hole cut.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The stage is set for an exciting finish at the Saskatchewan Amateur Golf Championships at Golf Kenosee.
