Four rounds of golf weren’t enough to separate\u00a0Viktor Hovland and Scottie Scheffler at the Travelers Championship<\/a> Sunday afternoon, as both players ended the day deadlocked at 21-under-par.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Scheffler and Hovland <\/a>will now square off in a sudden-death playoff Monday morning to determine the latest winner\u00a0after Sunday’s action was suspended due to darkness. The playoff will begin at 9 a.m. and will be aired on the Golf Channel, where\u00a0Scheffler and Hovland will replay the 18th hole as many times as necessary until a winner is determined.<\/p>\n

Tickets for Sunday’s round will be honored entry for the Monday playoff.<\/p>\n

While Hovland began the day with a slim one-stroke lead, Scheffler spent the majority of Sunday afternoon ahead of the pack, most concerned about a surging Collin Morikawa nipping at his ankles with 9-under 61.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But Hovland roared back with a string of three straight birdies that began on the 13th hole, forcing\u00a0Scheffler to nail a putt on the 18th hole to force a playoff.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The playoff was pushed to Monday because of darkness after the fourth round was delayed with heavy\u00a0rain<\/a>.\u00a0Play was first suspended at 5:57 p.m., with Scheffler and Hovland playing the 13th hole, and only resumed at 7:20 p.m.<\/p>\n

Fans who left the course during the delay were not allowed back in.<\/p>\n

It’s Scheffler’s fourth time in a playoff as a perennial competitor on the PGA Tour, splitting them with a 2-2 record.
