{"id":40210,"date":"2026-07-20T22:22:19","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T22:22:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/40210\/"},"modified":"2026-07-20T22:22:19","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T22:22:19","slug":"lpga-golf-star-marrying-minor-league-baseball-player","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/40210\/","title":{"rendered":"LPGA golf star marrying minor league baseball player"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LPGA star Brooke Henderson and minor league baseball player Ricky Castro have announced their engagement on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGod is so good for giving us each other!\u201d Castro wrote on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement, shared to Castro\u2019s Instagram account Sunday, came two days after Henderson finished second at the Amundi Evian Championship in France, her second top-three finish in a major in the past three weeks, and where she recorded an LPGA major championship-record six eagles. She also tied for third place at the KPMG Women\u2019s PGA Championship at the end of June.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"40039698\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/brooke-m-henderson-canada-tees-134071958.jpg\" alt=\"Brooke M. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Henderson, who hails from Ontario, is the winningest player in Canadian golf history. She turned pro in 2014 and has since won the 2016 LPGA Championship and 2022 Evian Championship. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Castro is a pitcher for the St. Paul Saints, the Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. He signed with the Twins in 2024 after spending his collegiate career with Purdue and Tulane. This season, he boasts a 2-1 record and 4.13 ERA for St. Paul.<\/p>\n<p>The couple have been together since March 2025 after meeting in Naples, where Henderson has a home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s traveling a lot, I\u2019m traveling a lot, so he really understands the lifestyle and all that it takes to perform at your best.
