(WMC) &#8211; A Memphis non-profit that stocks school supply closets for students in need is hosting its first-ever golf tournament to raise money to open another location.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cOn the Green,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedennispricejrfoundation.com\/event-details\/on-the-green-the-dennis-price-jr-golf-classic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.thedennispricejrfoundation.com\/event-details\/on-the-green-the-dennis-price-jr-golf-classic\">Dennis Price Jr Golf Classic<\/a>, tees off Saturday, Aug. 1 at The Links at Pine Hill in South Memphis. The event is open to solo golfers, groups and spectators. <\/p>\n<p>About the foundation<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedennispricejrfoundation.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.thedennispricejrfoundation.com\/\">Dennis Price Junior Foundation<\/a> was created in memory of Dennis Price Jr., a standout athlete at Ridgeway High School who died from an undiagnosed heart condition in 2013.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"The Dennis Price Junior Foundation was created in memory of Dennis Price Jr., a standout...\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/WL7ZB2ZTLZD3VAZJBLOHDL7DGU.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>The Dennis Price Junior Foundation was created in memory of Dennis Price Jr., a standout athlete at Ridgeway High School who died from an undiagnosed heart condition in 2013.(Action News 5)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">His parents, Dennis Price Sr. and Tracy Price, run the foundation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The foundation currently operates four DJ\u2019s Care Closets\u2014at Ridgeway Middle School, Westwood High School, Geeter K-8 and Fairley High School. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The closets provide school supplies, new clothing and personal hygiene items free to students in need.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cFor me, this has become a ministry. It\u2019s not just a hobby; it\u2019s a ministry. It\u2019s God\u2019s work,\u201d Tracy said.<\/p>\n<p>Tournament details<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The foundation has set a fundraising goal of $25,000 and is seeking 120 golfers \u2014 the capacity at Pine Hill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe sat down with the board and came up with the decision \u2014 $25,000 would be the goal,\u201d Dennis Price Sr. said. \u201cWe want 120 golfers. That\u2019s the max that Pine Hill can do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Registration fees are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list | article-list\">\n<li>Solo golfer: $125<\/li>\n<li>Party of four: $500<\/li>\n<li>Spectators: $25<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Breakfast, lunch and complimentary drinks will be provided.
