Patrick Reed came up just short of winning his second straight DP World Tour start.<\/p>\n

Reed, 35, lost in a playoff at the 2026 Bahrain Championship on Sunday, finishing runner-up after a bogey eliminated him from the three-way playoff on the first hole. Reed’s tee shot in overtime went into a bunker, and his second hit the lip on the way out and trickled across the fairway into the rough. His third came up well short of the hole, leaving himself a tester for par that he couldn’t convert, knocking him out and resulting in a T-2 finish.<\/p>\n

Freddy Schott topped Calum Hill on the second playoff hole, with Hill bogeying the 72nd hole in regulation to opent the door for Reed and Schott. Reed began the day trailing hill by four shots but shot 67 in the final round to get into a playoff.<\/p>\n

Reed, who announced his intentions to return to the PGA Tour in 2027<\/a>, can earn higher playing privileges than using his past champion status if he earns a PGA Tour card via the Race to Dubai rankings. After three starts this year, Reed sits second behind Jayden Schaper, who has two wins on the young season. Reed is in the field next week at the Qatar Masters, his fourth straight DP World Tour start.<\/p>\n

Sergio Garcia finished a shot out of a playoff at 16 under, tied with Daniel Hillier for fourth.<\/p>\n

The win is Schott’s first DP World Tour title and came after Hill had two penalty strokes on the second playoff hole, eventually conceding the playoff, declaring Schott the winner.<\/p>\n

I have no idea. It’s just amazing, I’m just extremely happy, surprised… I don’t know what’s happening right now. I’m just so happy,” Schott, from Germany, said. “I could have done it the regular way, that would have also been fine! But to do it this way feels even more special so I’m just glad it happened this way.”<\/p>\n
