Max Homa has seen Rory McIlroy up close and personal on the PGA Tour over the past decade or so.<\/p>\n

Homa has enjoyed a successful career himself, with six PGA Tour wins to his name, although he is without a victory since January 2023.<\/p>\n

However, McIlroy is on another level entirely to Homa, with 30 PGA Tour wins to his name, including six major championships.<\/p>\n

Rory McIlroy<\/a> has unquestionably been the best and most consistent player on the PGA Tour<\/a> over the last 10-15 years.<\/p>\n

Max Homa<\/a> has always been a huge fan of the 37-year-old Northern Irishman.<\/p>\n

However, the man from Burbank, California, believes McIlroy\u2019s swing was even better when he first came out on Tour than it is now.<\/p>\n

McIlroy is one of only six men in the history of the game to have ever completed the career Grand Slam.<\/p>\n

He is already a living legend, and is capable of beating any of his rivals on any given day, but Homa has just offered a really interesting insight into the six-time major champion\u2019s swing.<\/p>\n

When ranking some of his fellow pros\u2019 golf swings on the PGA Tour\u2019s official X account<\/a>, Homa was asked about McIlroy\u2019s motion.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo offence to his swing now, but when he first came out that was top tier,\u201c Homa replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was something about it when he was younger, the flow was incredible.\u201c<\/p>\n

Rory McIlroy\u2019s swing has evolved over the past 15 years<\/p>\n

McIlroy\u2019s move through the ball 15 years ago or so definitely had more of a fluid and natural flow than it has now.<\/p>\n

However, it goes without saying that McIlroy\u2019s swing is technically more proficient now than it was then.<\/p>\n

The Northern Irishman did win four majors by the age of 25 and he has only added two more to his tally since then.<\/p>\n

His more free-flowing golf swing was undoubtedly accompanied by a more relaxed, and perhaps even naive, approach to the game.<\/p>\n

However, now that he has completed the career Grand Slam, a weight has been lifted off his shoulders.<\/p>\n

And nobody should be surprised if he went on to win two or three more majors before he hangs up his clubs.<\/p>\n
