LIV Golf is not dead yet.<\/p>\n

With reports of LIV Golf on life support and seemingly taking its final few breaths, The Post has learned that its demise is not as imminent as it was believed to be.<\/p>\n

Sources have told The Post that LIV, which had its Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) money pulled this year<\/a>, is on the cusp of landing new investors to keep the tour alive into 2027 and beyond.<\/p>\n

Since the PIF announced in April that it would no longer fund LIV beyond the 2026 season, the tour\u2019s CEO Scott O\u2019Neil has feverishly been seeking outside financial backing<\/a> to keep it in existence.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Neil is believed to have been seeking between $250 million to $300 million to stay afloat. And, according to sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity, he\u2019s found it.<\/p>\n

According to sources, LIV Golf has received \u201cmultiple written commitments from blue-chip investment firms that would serve as anchor investors to support the league\u2019\u2019 going forward.<\/p>\n

The prospective \u201canchor\u2019\u2019 investors \u201chave submitted qualified term sheets\u2019\u2019 that would \u201csupport the formation of a financing syndicate with sufficient backing to capitalize\u2019\u2019 what LIV Golf is calling \u201cLIV 2.0.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

LIV has also attracted interest from additional investors looking to participate alongside those anchor investors, according to the sources.<\/p>\n

When reached on Wednesday, neither O\u2019Neil nor any representatives from LIV would comment.<\/p>\n

But there are believed to be some high-level meetings scheduled to take place next week at the LIV event at Trump Bedminster in New Jersey, meetings that will include O\u2019Neil and LIV players.<\/p>\n

The sources said the expectation is that a deal will be finalized \u201csometime in September.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

While LIV has seemingly found its financial footing, it\u2019s unclear how the tour will look in \u201827 as it moves forward. There has been talk of a heavier emphasis on the team golf, but that remains to be seen.<\/p>\n

Under the proposed structure outlined in the term sheet, LIV players will own a majority stake in the league, which is planning to continue conducting events in five continents.<\/p>\n

The players, according to the sources, are continuing to engage in the process, including meeting with investors. Bryson DeChambeau, among other prominent LIV players, has been very public about his involvement in helping to procure investors.<\/p>\n

There are three events still on the 2026 LIV Golf schedule \u2014 LIV Golf New York next week in New Jersey, LIV Golf Indianapolis Aug. 20-23, and LIV Golf Michigan, which is the season team finale, Aug. 27-30.<\/p>\n

While the New Jersey and Indianapolis events are set to take place, the finale in Michigan, according to multiple reports, will not<\/a>. No buildout for the event has even begun at the Michigan course.<\/p>\n

LIV Golf has declined comment on the status of the Michigan event, indicating that no announcement would be made until next week at the earliest.<\/p>\n

LIV is coming off a successful week in the UK with its event at the JCB Golf & Country Club drawing some 50,000 fans across four days while Aussie Lucas Herbert won just days after making a strong run at the British Open.<\/p>\n

After five years of seemingly unlimited funding from PIF, which has spent a reported $5 billion, LIV has been counting on outside private investments to stay alive.<\/p>\n

Those have been sought by O\u2019Neil, who\u2019s spent the better part of the past three months holding talks with private equity firms and wealthy investors in an effort to put together a package that could rescue the fledgling tour.<\/p>\n

Now, it seems O\u2019Neil and LIV have finally found a lifeline.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"LIV Golf is not dead yet.
