Charley Hull has refused to apologise for enraging the golfing world after lying to her caddie and convincing him that he\u2019d won a life-changing amount of money.<\/p>\n
The English golfer, ranked seventh in the world, made the entire golfing world see red after she bragged about pranking caddie Adam Woodward by buying him a fake scratch ticket worth \u00a3100,000 ($191,000).<\/p>\n
Hull filmed Woodward\u2019s euphoric, then despondent, reaction to the prank, laughing about it in her pre-tournament press conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s taken his hat off. He\u2019s taken his glasses off. He\u2019s literally running around the players\u2019 lounge sayin\u2019, \u2018I\u2019ve won $100,000. I\u2019m taking today off\u2019,\u201d she chuckled as she recalled the prank.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis face looked so happy. He was sweating. He was trembling. He couldn\u2019t believe his luck, and we had to tell him it was fake, and he nearly quit the job.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hull\u2019s actions drew widespread criticism on social media, with many believing it was both cruel and tasteless. <\/p>\n
\u201cI can no longer root for Charley Hull. After watching her play a few years ago, I became a fan. But after watching her stupid decisions on the course this season and her lack of class in how she pranked her own caddie, I just can\u2019t root for her any longer,\u201d Ed White wrote on X.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat was just cruel to begin with. Says more about Charlie Hull than her caddie,\u201d Ingrid Stam said.<\/p>\n
\u201cCharley Hull continues to be very unlikeable,\u201d Bruce McConachie added.<\/p>\n
Others called her actions \u201cevil\u201d and \u201ctruly awful\u201d.<\/p>\n
However, speaking after the opening round of the Women\u2019s British Open, Hull still didn\u2019t know why people were upset by it, refusing to apologise, saying she would \u201c100% do it again\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe thought it was funny after,\u201d Hull said after shooting a 2-under. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s not uptight. Like, it\u2019s a joke. If people don\u2019t like it, they can lump it, do you know what I mean?<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, like I felt bad for Adsy, but at the end of the day, I just got to have a good week, and at the end of the week, I\u2019ll buy him 100 scratch cards.<\/p>\n
