Kings Golf Club\u2019s annual fundraising challenge for Prostate Cancer UK took place last week.<\/p>\n

They are expecting to raise around \u00a339,000 when the final pennies have dropped in, matching their efforts from last year in another huge contribution to the national charity.<\/p>\n

Once again, 70 golfers took to the course, with some teeing off as early as 4.30am to make sure they completed all 72 holes throughout the day.<\/p>\n

Four different competitions were available to enter to keep things interesting for those entering, with a single\u2019s competition, a double\u2019s competition, a foursomes and a Texas Scramble to round off the day.<\/p>\n

Everyone made it through to the end in the Highland capital, with the fundraising total being topped up by matching contributions from individuals\u2019 employers, and an always-popular race night last weekend.<\/p>\n

The golf club do their bit for the charity every year to honour the memory of former player Bill Andrew.<\/p>\n

They are not the only ones who have taken up the mantle in golf, with the likes of Carlisle Golf Club embarking on a similar 72-hole challenge earlier this year, raising over \u00a350,000.<\/p>\n

All those efforts are part of a campaign run by Prostate Cancer UK called The Big Golf Race<\/a>, who encourage participants to complete either a half marathon (36 holes), a marathon (72 holes), or an ultra-marathon (100 holes).<\/p>\n

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer found in men,<\/a> leading to renewed efforts to diagnose the disease as early as possible this year.<\/p>\n

Earlier in 2026, the Scottish Prostate Cancer Initiative was launched by luminaries including Sir Chris Hoy.<\/a><\/p>\n

As a result, pop-up testing centres appeared all around the country, including at Inverness Caledonian Thistle\u2019s stadium,<\/a> helping tens of thousands of men get tested.<\/p>\n
