Young heads into the weekend with a share of the 36-hole lead after a 9-under 61 in his second round at the Rocket Classic.<\/p>\n

After opening with a 1-under 69 Thursday, Cameron Young<\/a> lit up Detroit Golf Club to climb back into contention at the Rocket Classic,\u00a0carding nine birdies on his round to take a share of the 36-hole lead and tie the course record in the process<\/p>\n

\u201cJust really solid golf all the way through,\u201d Young said. \u201cHappy to have kind of played my way back in the tournament a little bit after yesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Young began his round on the back nine, putting a birdie on the board on his first hole. He made birdie on the 12th\u00a0hole from off the green, the first of six consecutive birdies on his opening nine to go out in 28.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cIt felt like I had a 10-footer for birdie on pretty much every hole,\u201d he said. \u201cI made a bunch of them in a row on my front nine.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added two more birdies on his back nine, grabbing a share of the 36-hole lead with a 9-under 61.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Young has won twice this season, chasing down Matt Fitzpatrick<\/a> at the Players Championship before winning by six shots at the Cadillac Championship. Young finished T10 at the Truist Championship, his first start since his win at the Cadillac, but finished outside the top 25 in his next four tournaments.<\/p>\n

But after a runner-up finish at the Open Championship, Young feels he is back on the right track, encouraged by his progress even if the wins haven\u2019t come in recent months.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the main difficulty of golf,\u201d Young said. \u201cAny time you feel like that, it\u2019s difficult to some extent. You wonder am I missing something, why is this the way that it is, why is it not working, all those things.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut when it goes well, it feels totally the opposite. When it goes well, it feels like you never will play bad again. It just comes and goes. You kind of have to be ready for either one. At some point it\u2019s going to get harder and at some point, you\u2019ll come out of that difficult period and it will feel easy again. It\u2019s kind of just a game of being ready for whatever comes next.\u201d<\/p>\n
