ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO\/WQRF) \u2014 After two days of playing in the rain and wind, golfers had good conditions Sunday for the final round of the Great Rockford Men’s and Women’s Golf Classic at the Aldeen Golf Club.<\/p>\n
On the women’s side, Kayla Sayyalin shot back-to-back 69s the first two rounds at Ingersoll and Sanday Hollow. She followed that up Sunday by shooting a one-over-par 73 at Alden. That was good enough to win the championship by three strokes over Ella Greenberg.<\/p>\n
That’s Sayyalinh’s third Greater Rockford Golf Classic Championship.<\/p>\n
In the men’s championship flight, Jake Guse and Robert Dofflemyer came into this final round tied for the lead at 10-under. Guse bogeyed the first hole, Dofflemyer birdied it to take the lead.<\/p>\n
Dofflemyer shot a 33 on the front nine. He got on a roll collecting five straight birdies on holes eight through 12.<\/p>\n
Guse came up with birdies on 14 and 16 trying to put up a fight. Guse shot a 72 leaving him right where he began the day at ten under. Dofflemyer shot a 65 on Alden to go with his rounds of 67 at Ingersoll and 65 at Sandy Hollow. He finished the tournament 17-under-par to win the tournament by seven strokes.<\/p>\n
This is Dofflemyer’s fourth straight Greater Rockford Classic Championship, and his sixth overall.<\/p>\n
Dofflemyer’s sixth Greater Rockford Classic Championship bumps him up to third all-time, tied with Chris Beto. Jamie Hogan’s nine championship lead the way. Alex Welsh is second on the list with eight.<\/p>\n
