Former Perryville golf head coach Mike Rice has been named head coach of Anne Arundel Community College\u2019s men\u2019s golf program, as announced by the college last week. Rice adds coaching duties for the men\u2019s team as he enters his third season at the helm of the Riverhawks women\u2019s golf team.<\/p>\n
Prior to joining the Riverhawks, Rice served as the head golf coach at Perryville for four seasons, guiding the Panthers to back-to-back Cecil County runner-up finishes.<\/p>\n
Rice takes over a successful men\u2019s golf team that has won three consecutive Region 20 Division II titles and four-straight Maryland JUCO titles. Former Riverhawk Will Maddox, who was the Region 20 individual medalist in both 2025 and 2026, will join Rice as assistant coach for the men\u2019s team.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am incredibly honored and thrilled to accept the position of head men’s golf coach at Anne Arundel Community College,\u201d Rice said in a press release. \u201cStepping into this position is a dream come true and I cannot wait to get to work with our talented student-athletes on both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s golf teams. I am deeply committed to building a championship culture, both on the course and in the classroom while helping our players reach their highest potential.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rice led the AACC women\u2019s golf team to the NJCAA Southeast District Tournament in the team\u2019s inaugural season in 2025 and guided the team to its second consecutive district tournament appearance in 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cThroughout Coach Rice\u2019s tenure leading our women’s golf team, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership, a commitment to student-athlete development and a proven ability to build a culture of excellence both on and off the course,\u201d Anne Arundel Community College Athletic Director Duane Herr said in a press release. \u201cHis success in recruiting, player development and program management makes him uniquely qualified to lead both programs. We are confident that his vision, experience and dedication will create new opportunities for our men’s and women’s golfers while strengthening the overall success of AACC golf.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rice is an associate teaching professional with the United States Golf Teachers Federation and is a certified Class A Professional teacher\/member with the Professional Golf Teachers Association of America.<\/p>\n
Rice is a retired Baltimore City police detective and a United States Marine Corps veteran.
