(NBC)- A Marine veteran is facing federal firearms charges following a security scare outside President Donald Trump\u2019s golf club near Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Authorities arrested 39-year-old Jeanine John Teale over the weekend, ahead of the president\u2019s visit, after federal agents said he was seen taking photos and videos of the golf club.<\/p>\n

According to charging documents, investigators found a pistol and a high-capacity magazine inside Teale\u2019s vehicle. A search of his home allegedly uncovered an assault rifle, body armor and notebooks containing what authorities described as concerning statements.<\/p>\n

A law enforcement official told NBC News that Teale is a disabled Marine veteran who has significant PTSD and other mental health issues.<\/p>\n

Trump addressed the arrest, saying he takes some comfort in being told that \u201conly consequential presidents\u201d face such threats.<\/p>\n

The incident comes after several previous security threats involving the president, including an armed suspect at a White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner security checkpoint, a rifle-wielding suspect near a golf course, and the shooting at a campaign rally in Butler.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, federal officials are also reviewing a close encounter involving Marine One and a commercial American Airlines flight.<\/p>\n
