{"id":48169,"date":"2026-08-09T16:19:36","date_gmt":"2026-08-09T16:19:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/48169\/"},"modified":"2026-08-09T16:19:36","modified_gmt":"2026-08-09T16:19:36","slug":"bmw-golf-tournament-moves-to-country-club-of-spartanburg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/48169\/","title":{"rendered":"BMW golf tournament moves to Country Club of Spartanburg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SPARTANBURG \u2014 Golfers and fans will head to a different golf course in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.postandcourier.com\/spartanburg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Spartanburg<\/a>\u00a0for the 2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.postandcourier.com\/spartanburg\/sports\/bmw-pro-am-tournament-spartanburg-greenville\/article_c274bcbe-536b-4a62-abf3-f4402f9d90ef.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament is moving to the Country Club of Spartanburg after the Carolina Country Club was one of the event\u2019s two hosts for the past four years. The Thornblade Club in Greer is remaining as the event\u2019s other venue.<\/p>\n<p>The Korn Ferry Tour and the South Carolina Charities board both chose to change up the Spartanburg venue, the tournament announced in a press release on Nov. 13. The move \u201cunderscores a shared commitment to diversifying the tournament experience and providing the most competitive and engaging atmosphere for all involved,\u201d organizers said.<\/p>\n<p>Bob Stegner, the president of South Carolina Charities, the tournament\u2019s nonprofit foundation, thanked the Carolina Country Club in a statement and said the groups are grateful for the opportunity for the Country Club of Spartanburg to serve as a host.<\/p>\n<p>The new Spartanburg venue recently completed a multi-million-dollar renovation that redesigned three holes, refreshed amenities and upgraded playing surfaces. The release adds that the move is a \u201cstrategic effort to continually enhance the competitive environment\u201d and the new course \u201coffers an ideal blend of historic charm and modern excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>South Carolina Charities was made to promote the Upstate and its hospitality. It helped create the tournament in 2001 to raise funds and awareness for South Carolina charities.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament sees celebrities and amateur golfers join professional golfers from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pgatour.com\/korn-ferry-tour\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Korn Ferry<\/a>\u00a0Tour, the developmental tour for the PGA Tour in the United States, for a three-day better-ball competition over two courses.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Pasquith, general manager and chief operating officer of the Country Club of Spartanburg, said his club is thrilled to welcome the BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur recent renovations have positioned us to deliver a premier experience for players, spectators and the entire Upstate community,\u201d Pasquith said.<\/p>\n<p>The Carolina Country Club did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Post and Courier about the BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament changing venues.<\/p>\n<p>Taking place from June 4-7, the tournament expects to draw 45,000 spectators. The 2024 tournament generated over $8.5 million in total impact for the region, according to an economic impact study from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitgreenvillesc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Visit Greenville SC<\/a>.
