Especially when you have a long-hitting PGA Tour winner like Michael Brennan playing one.

Brennan collected his second PGA Tour victory on Sunday, winning the Wyndham Championship to springboard into the playoffs after he burst on the scene last October, going from limiited PGA Tour status to winner at the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship.

While much of Brennan’s equipment was unchanged from his first victory, he has made some tweaks to his top of bag.

In addition to adding Titleist’s mysterious GTS prototype 3-wood, Brennan also, at least for the Wyndham Championship, utilized a Titleist GTS3 7-wood instead of the T150 utility 3-iron he wielded at Black Desert last year.

The GTS3 7-wood is a new loft option in Titleist’s GTS line. Previously, the 21-degree fairway wood was only available in the larger “1” and “2” lines. Seeing the trend toward more high-lofted fairway woods, even for high-speed players like Brennan who is second on Tour in driving distance, Titleist added the 21-degree loft to the GTS3 lineup for the first time.

Brennan isn’t alone in adding the club. Both Cameron Young and Russell Henley have added the GTS3 7-wood to the bag this season and have won with it.

“It’s nice to have both in the line. I think GTS2 and GTS3 appeal to different players,” Titleist Tour rep Nick Geyer said of the 7-wood loft. “And so when you’re talking about both flight as well as look, you’ve got two really cool options that both do what they’re supposed to do.”

 View Product

ALSO AVAILABLE AT: PGA TOUR Superstore, Titleist

Brennan reworked his fairway wood setup in May by adding both the GTS prototype and the GTS3 7-wood at the Charles Schwab Challenge. He said both clubs helped him take the left miss out of play and he loved the look at address.

“He’s found a lot of success with the height and the gapping that 7-wood provides. It’s a little faster than 3-iron, it goes a little higher. He’s got such great length that par 5s are kind of right in that space if they’re long and not a 5- or a 4-iron,” Geyer said. “And when you talk about the ‘3’ model specifically, it’s provided that in a way that doesn’t over-spin. It’s got this strong flight for a super high speed player.

“And I think that’s why we’ve seen a lot of success with that model out on the PGA Tour is because it is high flying, but moderately spinning. And for those faster players or those players that have kind of a more down-on-it style of attack, I think it’s kept the flight really controllable.”

Both new fairway woods feature bright silver faces. All of the Titleist fairway woods feature the silver face to help players see more loft at address which players typically react to by covering the ball better.

The era of a 7-wood being reserved exclusively for game improvement players is long over.
