It\u2019s fair to say that Brandel Chamblee is reveling in LIV Golf\u2019s current plight.<\/p>\n

LIV Golf CEO Scott O\u2019Neil has apparently managed to secure new funding after Saudi Arabia\u2019s PIF pulled the plug on their financial support of the league.<\/p>\n

However, everything seems so vague regarding the fresh investment. Nobody knows who they actually are, or how much money they will be investing in the league.<\/p>\n

LIV Golf<\/a> has been fighting an uphill battle over the past few months now, but it does seem like the league will continue moving forward, albeit on a much smaller scale.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Neil has been meeting with LIV golfers<\/a> to explain to them how he sees the future panning out.<\/p>\n

While some LIV Golf fans will continue to defend the league regardless of what happens, it\u2019s clear to see the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund believed that continued funding of the project was a no-win scenario.<\/p>\n

Brandel Chamblee explains exactly why LIV Golf has failed<\/p>\n

Saudi Arabia\u2019s Public Investment Fund have pumped money into various different sports aside from golf, including tennis, combat sports, motorsport and, of course, soccer.<\/p>\n

However, golf is the sport that they have found hardest to crack.<\/p>\n

And now Chamblee has taken to his official X account<\/a> to explain why he believes the Saudis failed with their investment in LIV Golf.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Saudis have successfully invested in other sports,\u201c Chamblee began.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy did their attempts to take over golf fail?<\/p>\n

\u201cLIV could purchase the players, but it couldn\u2019t purchase their credibility\u2014or the audience that had made them valuable in the first place.<\/p>\n

\u201cLIV assumed golf fans could be bought along with the players. They couldn\u2019t. The audience saw through the sportwashing and recognized self-interest masquerading as principle.<\/p>\n

\u201cPerhaps ridding itself of the Saudi sportswashing connection will give LIV new life, but it\u2019s hard to imagine an anemic version of the tour will succeed where the bloated one failed.\u201c<\/p>\n

Chamblee has hit the nail on the head, especially with his suggestion that golf fans recognized the \u2018self-interest masquerading as principle\u2019.<\/p>\n

LIV Golf\u2019s biggest mistake was a lack of humility<\/p>\n

I am convinced that LIV Golf would have stood more of a chance of succeeding if the entire setup would have emerged onto the professional golf scene with more humility, rather than the brashness they had.<\/p>\n

The vast majority of golf fans quickly became sick and tired of LIV golfers and the commentators forcing everything down their throats.<\/p>\n

There is no history associated with LIV Golf tournaments, nor is there any real meaning to winning them, aside from money of course.<\/p>\n

Saudi Arabia\u2019s Public Investment Fund made the mistake in believing that throwing huge amounts of money at their project would instantly make it a success.<\/p>\n

But golf is different to many other sports. History and tradition mean so much to the majority of golf fans.<\/p>\n

And LIV Golf simply could never manufacture those things, regardless of how much money they threw at it.<\/p>\n
