Scheffler is one of a number of star golfers in action in Memphis this weekend<\/p>\n
Justin Rose<\/a> is hoping to successfully defend his St. Jude crown having claimed victory at TPC Southwind last year.<\/p>\n While golfers are used to playing in the summer months, they’ll need to take extra precautions as they look to battle the heat in Tennessee.<\/p>\n And in the lead up to the tournament, Scheffler<\/a> outlined the importance of hydration and to not get ‘waterlogged’ on the course.<\/p>\n “You can only drink so much water out on the course without getting waterlogged,” the American said.<\/p>\n READ MORE ON TALKSPORT<\/p>\n “That’s something that we actually experience at home depending on, if I take a break to eat lunch and go back out and chug a bunch of water, you can get waterlogged.<\/p>\n “It feels like it sits in your belly sometimes.”<\/p>\n Scheffler added that it’s more about just taking on water when the temperatures are high.<\/p>\n “A lot of the hydration is something you have to focus on beforehand, and it’s not necessarily water, it’s a lot of electrolytes and stuff like that,” he continued.<\/p>\n “The heat is something you really have to prepare for ahead of time.”<\/p>\n 3<\/p>\n Scheffler and Scott carry snacks around the course<\/p>\n Scheffler also revealed that his wife makes protein balls to have on the course, while caddie Ted Scott<\/a> is always carrying snacks in his bag.<\/p>\n “Some days I eat them; some days I don’t. It depends on if I get hungry or not. I’m not super structured in that part,” he said.<\/p>\n “I almost try to view the Playoffs as one big, long tournament, like a 12-round event. You’ve got to pace yourself. It’s three long weeks.<\/p>\n “We’re going from here to St. Louis to Atlanta. Every week is going to feel a bit like this. It’s going to be hot and sweaty. So, you want to be able to conserve energy as well.”<\/p>\n ‘Electrolytes, water, and keep going’<\/p>\n McIlroy<\/a>, who resides in Florida, is used to the hot and humid weather, but it pales in comparison to other places that the 2026 Masters winner<\/a> has played.<\/p>\n “I’ve played a lot in like Southeast Asia, like at the start of my career,” he said.<\/p>\n “So, Singapore, Malaysia. There’s been times where it’s just been absolutely miserable.<\/p>\n “Like this is hot here, but it’s not like the humidity that you get in some of those places is just next level.
