Coach Scott Lindow is back for his fifth year, and new this season for the girls golf team is an assistant coach, as Todd Kobielush joins the staff. Lindow said it will be helpful having an extra set of eyes out on the course; it will allow more one-on-one instruction with the golfers.

“He’s so knowledgable about golf and is such a great guy,” Lindow said of Kobielush.

Annika Ahlberg and Callie Bolduc were each Division 2 sectional qualifiers a season ago and are back to lead the Warriors during their junior seasons. Ahlberg was just outside the top 10 at the sectional meet and just three shots back of the final state qualifier. She was also an all-conference honorable mentions in the Big Rivers. Bolduc was just outside the top 20 in the conference standings last year.

“They both have possibilities of being competitive in the playoffs, and I think that’s the biggest thing,” Lindow said.

While Rice Lake was eighth in the Big Rivers last season, the Warriors took fourth in their Division 2 regional, one placement from advancing as a team to the sectional tournament. The Warriors will have a difficult challenge come the postseason though this year as Rice Lake will playing Division 1. Their regional tournament is at Superior against eight other teams, six of which are from the Big Rivers. The top 60% of schools based on their enrollments play at Division 1, and a number of small schools have added girl golf programs, bumping Rice Lake up as one of the smallest enrollments in its division.

“It’s going to be tough, but we’ll play against a bunch of them in conference,” Lindow said.

New to the team this year are senior Jaelyn Foust and juniors Emma Larson and Anna Schieffer. Foust is new to the sport, but Larson and Schieffer have experience despite it being their first season on the high school team.

“This team is pretty strong, there’s a lot of experience,” Lindow said. “Even though it’s Emme’s first year and Anna’s first year, they’ve got experience golfing — they come from golfing families.”

The Warriors’ coach said there’s still a possibility the team may add an additional player once the school year starts. Rice Lake has invites upcoming at New Richmond, Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire Memorial in the next week. The first conference meet is Aug. 27 at New Richmond, and Rice Lake hosts its Big Rivers meet Sept. 10 at Turtleback Golf Course.

“We’re going to compete,” Lindow said, “and just watching over the last few days we’re getting better and it’s early.”

Two sectional qualifiers returning provide a strong top of the lineup for the Rice Lake Warriors girls golf…

[2
2853,4584,3344,44,291,2850,2852,2848,19778,19777,56,3589,2334,2851,834,2854,6290
post-51230","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news","tag-ball-games","tag-balls","tag-competitions","tag-golf","tag-grass-field-surfaces","tag-lawn-games","tag-outdoor-sports","tag-precision-sports","tag-rice-lake","tag-rice-lake-ontario","tag-sports","tag-sports-competitions","tag-sports-events","tag-summer-sports","tag-tournament","tag-turf-sports","tag-wisconsin
["GET
