Scottie Scheffler has had a fair share of close calls this year \u200cbut not in the St Jude Championship.<\/p>\n
He shot a final-round 4-under-par 66 on Sunday in Memphis, Tennessee, and pulled away to win the tournament by eight strokes \u2060and extend his lead in \u2060the FedEx Cup playoffs.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt like a week like this was coming,\u201d Scheffler said. \u201cI felt like I was on repeat all year just being like, \u2018Hey, I\u2019m playing solid. I\u2019m close.\u2019 It feels good to be answering some different questions \u2060at the end of this week.\u201d<\/p>\n
Scheffler is the world number one, but this marked his first victory since January.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have had some close calls this year,\u201d Scheffler said. \u201cI feel like I kept saying at the end of each tournament that I feel like I am playing pretty good \u2013 it\u2019s just little things \u2060that aren\u2019t going my way.\u201d<\/p>\n

He finished at a 17-under 263 for an eight-stroke advantage on runner-up Si Woo Kim of South Korea at TPC Southwind, where the opening event of three tournaments in the FedEx Cup playoffs took place. Kim shot 68 on Sunday.<\/p>\n
It was the tournament\u2019s second-largest margin of victory in the past 30 years and the largest winning gap at TPC Southwind.<\/p>\n
\u201cI felt like I\u2019ve been in a good rhythm,\u201d Scheffler said. \u201cI didn\u2019t hit maybe as many fairways this week, but I was \u200creally sharp with the irons, and I rolled it really good on the greens. That\u2019s a good compensation if you\u2019re going to try to have success out here.\u201d<\/p>\n
None of the other contenders made much of a push on Sunday as Scheffler\u2019s lead expanded from two strokes to five by midway through the round.<\/p>\n
Scheffler, who secured his 21st all-time victory on the tour, poured it on with birdies on the 11th, 13th and 16th holes.<\/p>\n
\u201cI played solid golf all day, really all week,\u201d Scheffler said.<\/p>\n
